FreeLivingBarn & CowToilet: the power of natural separation
Cow comfort and an efficient working environment play an important role in modern dairy farming. With the CowToilet, urine is collected directly from the cow before it comes into contact with solid manure. When the cow eats concentrate in the feed station, the CowToilet stimulates the urination reflex and collects the urine directly underneath the tail. The urine is then transported separately to a closed storage tank. This keeps urine and solid manure separated, reduces the formation of ammonia and preserves valuable nutrients for targeted use on the farm.
The FreeLivingBarn approaches cow comfort from the perspective of the cow's entire living environment. Instead of fixed cubicles, cows have access to a spacious living and resting area with a deep layer of sand. This gives them greater freedom of movement and allows them to choose a comfortable place to rest. Beneath the sand layer is a drainage system. The shape of the floor directs urine towards pipes underneath the sand, where it is collected and removed separately. In this way, comfort and freedom of movement are combined with a smart solution for removing urine from the cows' living environment.
The BeddingCleaner helps keep this spacious sand bedding clean. The machine moves across the sand bed and sieves the top layer. Solid manure and other contamination are removed from the sand and collected, while the sieved sand falls back into the living and resting area. This keeps the bedding clean and comfortable and makes the daily maintenance of a spacious sand bed practical and manageable.
Within the FreeLivingBarn, the drainage system and BeddingCleaner complement each other: urine is removed through the floor, while solid manure is removed from the upper layer of sand by the BeddingCleaner.
